New trends in membrane bioreactor operation for water reuse in agriculture (Keynote)
Résumé
The global challenges in the field of water treatment are those related to poverty, climate, environmental degradation (SDGs 2, 6, 7 and 12). These objectives have generated the nexus: Water, Energy, Environment, Food. Thus, to fight the water resources scarcity, the reuse of treated wastewater (REUSE) appears to be the solution. Thus, membrane processes make it possible by securing the use of treated wastewater toward agriculture needs introducing the concept of secondary raw material. Operator need to find the best strategies of controlling membrane bioreactors (MBR) in order to produce water for agriculture while valuing its nutrients. Research has provided proof of concept of the adaptation and / or flexibility of MBR to produce water quality tuned for ferti-irrigation: cleaner water (control of sanitary quality) and valued resources (H2O, C, N, P, K) by crops.
