In-depth Stark broadening study of neutral oxygen 777 nm triplet
Résumé
In this study, the Stark broadening of the visible triplet of neutral oxygen was caracterised. To cover a wide range of electron densities, the study relies on two joint experimental campaigns: one on laser-induced plasma and the other on wall-stabilized arc. Measuring the Stark impact factor associated with the triplet requires, in addition to an accurate measurement of electron density and temperature, isolating the Lorentzian Stark contribution by deconvoluting the experimental spectral profile. This measurement will allow, for any observation where the triplet is unresolved and/or suffers from line overlapping, to estimate the electron density or perform elemental quantification from the total broadening of the O 777 nm triplet.
