Cephalopod Stocks in the North-Eastern Atlantic: Historical review of Stock Assesment trials.
Résumé
Over the past thirty years, a series of stock assessment methods have been tested or adapted for cephalopod stocks in the European Atlantic. However, none of these resources are subject to recurrent assessment and management advice from ICES (the Regional Fisheries Management Organization). A brief review of the main trials shows what has been learned and their limitations. The tools currently applied are recommended for data limited stocks, but the biological characteristics of cephalopods call into question their relevance. Possible improvement include taking into account environmentally-dependent spatial variations in these migratory resources
