Wide-field stimulation system for measuring of visuomotor behaviors in arthropods
Résumé
We describe the development of a panoramic visual stimulation system with field of view of 360°x80°. The system is based on the projection of an image generated by a conventional projector over a conical translucent screen surrounding the animal. Visual stimuli are designed in spherical coordinates, its projection onto the cone and finally the image to generate the projector is calculated. The proposed scheme simplifies the generation of panoramic visual stimuli and allows behavioral experiments in open or closed feedback loop. Finally, we show examples of its application to measurement of visuomotor behavior in the crab Neohelice granulata.
