PSBA-XG: A Publish/subscribe Service-Based Architecture for Beyond 5G Systems
Résumé
The release of 5G has brought significant advancements in Quality of Service (QoS), enabling a wide array of use cases in fields like IoT and healthcare. However, in order to meet requirements for smart vehicles, remote surgery and other applications, further improvements are needed in the QoS. For this reason, work is being conducted towards a next generation of mobile networks, 6G. In the core network, evolutions of the architecture are studied to reduce the latency and the amount of exchanged messages. This paper introduces a Publish-Subscribe Service-Based Architecture for next Generation (PSBA-XG) platform. We propose to introduce a new component in the 5G core network operating on the 3GPP standard Service Based Interface, which is based on a publish/subscribe implementation to ingest network data in storage units. This enables to adopt a data-centric approach to the network management, especially useful for more advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. We carried out experiments to evaluate the performance of our approach with the standard 5G core architecture. In these experiments, the proposed architecture enables the parallelization of some standard processes, dividing the median execution time of some procedure by 4.
