The Grand Hall of Kafir-kala: An Observation of Archaeological Finds, Botanical and Zoological Evidence
Résumé
This article presents the findings from the grand hall, potentially part of a palace quarter discovered in the northwestern shahristan area of Kafir-kala (Rēwdāt) in 2021, which was fully excavated the subsequent year. It includes preliminary analyses of artifacts recovered from the grand hall, including fragments of wall-painting. Additionally, the article offers initial results of archaeobotanical and archaeozoological data collected during the excavation of this area. Given that the organic materials come predominantly from pre-Islamic and Early Islamic contexts, the article will also examine and discuss comparative data from these distinct periods.
