Investigation on the impact of H$_2$ , D$_2$ and Ne cryogenic solid ice pellets
Résumé
Shattered pellet injection (SPI) systems in plasma nuclear reactors are required to mitigate plasma disruptions. The system is based on the propulsive injection of cryogenic ice pellets directly into the plasma. This study focuses on cryogenic ice pellet impacts in support of the development of ITER disruption mitigation system. The impact characteristics are studied using force sensors and ultra-high speed cameras to estimate the impact load and the fracturing process.
