Résumé

The whole population is exposed to ionizing radiation (IR) at varying levels, through multiple natural and man-made sources, whether in the context of residential environment, personal and professional activities or healthcare. The carcinogenic effects of IR are well documented, but there is still controversy about the shape of the relationships between exposure and cancer risks at low doses (less than 100 milliGrays). In addition, the effects of multiple exposures to IR and other cancer risk factors is poorly documented. Potential associations between low IR dose and noncancer chronic diseases also require further research.
