High temperature superconductivity has been a strong booster in the early seventies for the search of molecular crystals which may conduct electricity like metals. After the stabilization of superconductivity in 1980 in the cation radical salt (TMTSF)2PF6 under pressure with a modest Tc of 1.2 K remarkable progresses have been achieved in chemistry since a decade of critical temperatures has been gained ten years later. Furthermore, besides superconductivity a wealth of new and fascinating phenomena have been observed, for example: the stabilization of spin density wave (SDW) states by a large magnetic field applied to a quasi-one-dimensional electron gas, the existence of quantized Hall resistance in these field induced SDW states, and a new channel of collective conduction provided by the coherent motion of a SDW condensate.
