Commissioning of the first S$^3$ Targets’ Station for non-radioactive material

Mise en service de la Station Cibles Stables de S$^3$

Résumé

In order to handle the very intense heavy ion beams from the GANIL-SPIRAL2 superconducting linear accelerator (LINAG), a specific target station for stable material was designed and built upstream of the Super-Separator-Spectrometer S3 . After testing separately all components of this station, the whole system was evaluated under realistic irradiation conditions. This paper reports on the specifications of the set-up and the results of the test.
