            <abstract xml:lang="en">
              <p>A theoretical model for the compaction of a colloidal sediment under uniaxial mechanical pressure was analyzed in the three-dimensional space. The laws for the quasistatic compression of dissipative networks, made of aggregated particles that interact through noncentral forces were also determined. A discrete set of compressional responses that are independent of initial conditions were observed. It was found that systems with low disruptive energies responded with plastic behavior, while systems with higher disruptive energies responded with an elastic behavior.</p>
