              <p>This paper deals with the combined effects of elastic deformation and permeability on the hydrodynamic performance of a squeeze film between parallel plates. The upper plate consists of an elastic porous matrix saturated by a Newtonian fluid. The poroelastic effects of this plate are taken into account by means of the homogenization method for periodic structures. The squeeze film analysis uses the Beavers-Joseph slip velocity at the film/porous-plate interface. The fluid film and poroelastic plate equations are discretized by the finite difference method and are solved iteratively using the Gauss-Seidel method. The coupling of the fluid film and the poroelastic plate is accomplished by iterative fixed point. The numerical results show that the poroelasticity effects are significant.</p>
