Evaluation and Calibration of Quality of Life in Smart Megacities: A Case Study in La Condesa, Mexico City
Résumé
The article examines how contemporary urban planning connects urban characteristics to social, economic, environmental performance, and citizen well-being. It defines quality of life (QoL) as a multidimensional index incorporating social, economic, cultural,
psychological, and health variables. The work introduces the "elasticity of quality of life" (E-QoL), a measure evaluating how adjustments to QoL variables affect the overall index
without compromising well-being. This tool helps identify critical policy limits. Using the
La Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City as a case study, the article analyzes public policy impacts on QoL, focusing on segregation, overpopulation, and desertification.
