Les Etats-Unis et l'effondrement du Haut-Karabagh arménien (2020-2023). Chroniques et évaluation d'un engagement limité
Résumé
The aim of this article is to present and analyze the United States’ policy of restraint during the final phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict (2020- 2023). While this cautious and limited policy has disappointed many, particularly among Armenian-Americans, and may have even surprised some, it is in fact easily explainable by the US geopolitical proximity with Azerbaijan and by the United States’ relative withdrawal from the South Caucasus region, which began during the Obama era. The Russian and, to a lesser extent, Turkish and possibly Israeli parameters also appear important in order to grasp this American logic of involvement, which is so cautious and weak in its intensity that it had little weight or impact.
