Conflicts and Tensions in Urban Public Spaces: The Impact of Event Management

The relationship between events and urban public spaces is increasingly marked by tensions and conflicts, This paper examines the various aspects of tensions related to event management in urban public spaces, highlighting the challenges faced by organizers, local authorities, and city residents. It analyzes strategies and solutions implemented to manage these conflicts, drawing on case studies from different cities and events. Key issues include conflicts over space usage, competing interests, environmental concerns, sociocultural tensions, and security challenges. Effective conflict management requires enhanced communication and stakeholder consultation, efficient planning and coordination, environmental sustainability, and improved safety measures. The paper concludes with recommendations for integrated and adaptive policies to ensure the success and sustainability of urban events, promoting a harmonious coexistence between event activities and the urban community.
