On a system of PDEs modeling a non-isothermal adsorption column with a single species

We present a study of some theoretical aspects for a model describing a nonisothermal adsorption column without axial diffusion, with a single gaseous species and adiabatic operation. In this model, the velocity of the gas is part of the unknown (sorption effect). We obtain an existence and uniqueness result in a variational framework. We then consider the particular case of instantaneous equilibrium between the gaseous and solid phases.
