Driving Collaboration between OSDU/Energistics Business Activity Services by a Cloud-Native Geoscientific Workflow Platform
Résumé
After a Proof of Concept in 2022, we developed and experimented a cloud-native Geoscientific Workflow platform that strictly respects the more recent Energistics (www.energistics.org) and OSDU (www.osduforum.org) publications and the BPMN standard ISO/CEI 19510. This solution seats on an Event-driven Geoscientific workflow Platform, can be operated from a Web UI including a 3D viewer on which the user can access a set of Geomodelling activity and Sub surface Entities embedded in a reservoir Domain Data Management Service based on RESQML V2.2. This UI can consequently create Activity Templates, compose and store “to be processed” Activity instances in the domain data management service, then launch the workflows. The execution is totally driven by a “cloud native” workflow engine which orchestrates business tasks along a geomodelling life cycle. At the end results are delivered on the data service, can be explored by the Web UI and exploited by other Activities. In parallel we experimented and tested the performances of the overall platform by adding new Activity Templates and their corresponding “Activity Template services”. We paid a special attention to the development and experimentation of services using Docker Containers built with the Jerboa library (https://xlim-sic.labo.univ-poitiers.fr/jerboa/) and ensured their collaboration with other geomodelling services.
