Eco-Conscious Software Development: A Comprehensive Guide for Sustainable Practices
Résumé
According to the World Health Organization, climate change is identified as a significant threat, primarily driven by excessive greenhouse gas emissions. While the natural greenhouse effect is essential for maintaining a habitable planet, human activities contribute to an overproduction of these gases, leading to accelerated global climate warming. In response to this, the concept of Green IT emerges, encompassing Information and Communication Technologies that mitigates environmental harm. Although Green IT is commonly associated with hardware, its software aspect plays a critical role in controlling energy consumption. This work try to answer to this challenge by offering a guide to improve the development process with a sustainable approach through a literature review and interviews of several professionals.
