Residues of anticancer drugs are among the emerging micropollutants often identified in aquatic ecosystems. The aim of this study was to explain the influence of the concentration of the catalyst (TiO$_2$) and of water matrix composition on the photocatalytic degradation of 5-flurouracil (20 mg.L$^{-1}$). For this purpose, photocatalytic tests were carried out with suspensions of titanium dioxide at concentrations between 0.1 to 1.0 g.L$^{-1}$ in ultrapure water and tap water (water with high calcium hardness: with a hydrotimetric parameters > 35° F). The results showed that more than 80% after 120 min of irradiation (UV-A) in ultra-pure at concentrations of 0.1 g L$^{-1}$ to 1 g L$^{-1}$ of TiO$_2$. However, this rate is 33% and 75% for these same concentrations in tap water matrices. The high concentration of bicarbonate ions in tap water (HCO3-) is probably responsible for the decrease in the observed velocity, as the bicarbonate ions act as radical traps. The results in the wastewater matrice are same with those obtained in the tap water. The pH variation from 3 to 10 showed the optimum rate at pH 5.8.
