La lumière d'Israël chez Nelly Sachs

Résumé

Based primarily on Nelly Sachs' collection of poems "Sternverdunkelung" (Eclipse of the Stars) and her correspondence, and highlighting her proximity to Buber , the article analyzes the significance of Israel for the German-born Jewish poet who found refuge in Stockholm in May 1940, narrowly escaping deportation. Emphasis is placed on her vision of the "Land of Israel", on the "Voice of Israel", that she speaks for in the first part of her work, which was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1966, and on the special mission with a universal purpose that she sees as incumbent on the Jewish people, the State of Israel whose founding she celebrates, and beyond that, on humanity as a whole.
