The Road towards 6G: Opportunities, Challenges, and Applications
Résumé
The main scope of this chapter is to introduce an overview on the security of the main differences (or not) between 5G and 6G networks. Some key technologies, that are imposing in 6G networks, such as Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Cell-free Massive MIMO, Visible Light Communication (VLC), make in sort that a thoroughly analysis of the new features of the new technologies must be realized to better characterize new vulnerabilities. Another key aspect characterizing the 6G networks is the massive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies, equipping the offenders with more powerful guns to create attacks. This chapter is without any pretension of being exhaustive and its main objective is above all to provide food for thought on the new technologies in 6G, their use and the key role of Physical Layer Security in 6G networks.
