Multi-objective disassembly line balancing and related supply chain management problems under uncertainty: Review and future trends

Résumé

Disassembly Line Balancing (DLB) is a critical issue in end-of-life product recycling and remanufacturing. DLB-related supply chains exist in many industry sectors, including automobiles, mobile phones, and electronic appliances. In recent years, the interest in multi-objective versions of DLB under certainty has been constantly increasing. However, most existing reviews focus on the specificities of disassembly lines and returned products, and only a few mention the importance of considering integrated DLB-related supply chains. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, there have been no reviews of multi-objective DLB under uncertainty. This review provides a comprehensive view of DLB by analyzing more than 150 original research and survey articles since 2010. To better analyze these publications, we propose a novel triplet notation integrating the perspectives of problem settings, circumstances, and solution methods. The contributions of this survey include: (i) we classify and review newly published DLB-related integrated issues; (ii) we focus on both multi-objective and uncertainty, which has not been addressed by previous surveys; (iii) we analyze in-depth solution approaches to address multi-objective DLB problems under uncertainty. Based on this systemic analysis, we identify multiple theoretical and practical gaps in the literature and point out promising future research directions.
