Delayed gradient methods for symmetric and positive definite linear systems

Résumé

The primary aim of this paper is to provide a review of the last few decades of research focused on delayed gradient methods for solving symmetric positive definite linear systems. Recent developments on spectral properties are stressed, as well as their implications for the formulation of new methods. Numerical experiments are conducted with emphasis on the comparison with the conjugate gradient method for solving ill-conditioned problems.
