Boat in the Tide of History: Chan Kei Fan. An Overseas Chinese Engineer Architect
历史浪潮中的扁舟——华侨建筑工程师陈其芬
Résumé
Chan Kei Fan is the same age as Liang Sicheng and Hua Lanhong (Léon Hoa), but his life differs significantly from others. Chan is the son of an overseas Chinese family. He spent half of his life in Vietnam and Cambodia during the wars and completed several important public buildings, while he has always kept strong ties to
his home country. His collaboration with Vann Molyvann in Cambodia constitutes a remarkable episode in overseas
Chinese history. Chan’s personal story reveals several facets of the macro-history at the beginning of the 20th century.
