The Regional Design Trend in the Chinese Contemporary Architecture:An Image of Iterative Improvement in the Occidental Mirrors
中国当代建筑的地域性思潮——镜像中的迭代与更新
Résumé
By adopting the viewpoint of cultural transfer, we can put the trends of Chinese contemporary architecture in a longer historical
context. We observe a binary system that opposes China and the Occident, tradition and modernity. It characterizes a mode of thinking
based on the reference of the Occident. In the case of the regionalism, Occidental knowledge is used as a mirror, by which the discipline of
architecture in China looks for his own identity, at the same time Chinese architecture is also enriching itself. Combining with consideration
the previous imports of Occidental knowledge, an iterative image emerges and shows the evolution of ideas and form. The procedure is the key
to understand contemporary Chinese architecture.
