One-room flats (comprising four walls and a front door) combine multiple material phenomena and social situations : a variety of inhabitants and life-trajectories, distinct reasons for their choice of this form of accommodation, different architectural contexts,
the presence of other forms of accommodation in which to reside, spaces which have become singular. Nevertheless, the architectural unity which characterises them leads to interrogations on dwelling in terms of construction and not in terms of the a priori ascription of spaces. Through observation of the action of inhabitants on their objects a complex practice of the multiple spaces contained within a few square metres is brought to light.
