L'Afrique en devenir : Quels apports des bibliothèques pour l'émergence ?
Résumé
For just over a decade, the concept of "emergence" has featured prominently in the discourse of African politicians. Just over half of African countries (37/54) have adopted strategic plans for emergence, in which the development of human capital and the capture of the demographic dividend regularly feature. We maintain that this is only possible in today's information society if citizens are information literate. This is where the public library comes into its own, as its actions in support of lifelong education and training contribute to the development and consolidation of skills useful to the country's economy. Furthermore, in a society dominated by oral culture, we felt it necessary to propose a model for an African public library based on the valorization of oral traditions, the capture of tacit knowledge and local knowledge, and the redocumentarization of explicit knowledge and international knowledge.
