Photonics-enabled 1.04-Tbit/s Aggregated Data-rate in the 600-GHz-band

Résumé

We demonstrate in this work the use of a waveguide-integrated THz photodiode in the 600 GHz band, combined with a waveguide-based receiver. Leveraging on the wide available bandwidth of this association, beyond 1 terabit per second aggregated data-rate is reached with a bit-error-rate performance compliant to the standard error-correction techniques limits, setting a new milestone for THz communications.
