L'impact du système de régulation du trafic multimodal (Tramways-Automobiles) sur le comportement des conducteurs dans les intersections urbaines en Algérie
Résumé
The implementation of a traffic control system makes it possible to guarantee the safety of all users by effectively managing traffic flows at intersections. The aim of this work is to evaluate the performance of a multimodal traffic signaling system at intersections crossed by a tramway line, to show how this system can influence motorists' behavior. The methodology followed in this paper is to first present the traffic situation, as well as current driver behavior at this type of intersection in several Algerian cities. Secondly, to study the performance of the signalling system by evaluating the fluidity of road traffic, taking as a case study an intersection located on the Constantine tramway line. The results show that motorists behave irresponsibly, driving in the tramway lane and disregarding traffic lights, leading to serious accidents. This bad behavior is mainly due to the poor synchronization and coordination of multimodal traffic signals, as they do not respond adequately and effectively to traffic conditions at intersections. This article suggests recommendations for improving driver behavior and reducing road accidents.
