Modular and Open Platform for Future Automotive Computing Environment

Résumé

This chapter describes the foundations of the Future Automotive Computing Environment (FACE) solution. The FACE project revolves around three pillars: first, the centralization of all functions on a single common computing platform; second, a modular approach with the integration of heterogeneous hardware and software components; and finally, an end-to-end, tool-assisted methodology to support the application design and integration process. The chapter demonstrates the benefits of the FACE approach through the evaluation of an adaptive braking system. The methodology, tooling and hardware/software architecture is demonstrated and characterized by implementing an adaptive braking system use case. The chapter concludes by summarizing the FACE project impact, from both technical and supply chain evolution perspectives.
