Liquid Detection based on Radar Cross-Section Measurement of Love Wave Sensor

Résumé

In this article, the remote sensing of a liquid from the radar cross-section measurement of a Love wave sensor is studied. In this experiment, the Love wave sensor is monitored with a Vector Network Analyzer in a bistatic configuration. Adding a saturated NaCl solution to the sensor produces a change in the sensor impedance and in its radar cross-section of around 0.30 dBsm. A variation of the frequency of 150 kHz and the magnitude of the scattering level of 0.35 dB was measured in the operating frequency region of the sensor. The reproducibility, minimization of errors, and the time used to perform the measurement have been improved in this system.
