Le mobilier métallique découvert dans une mare du III e siècle à Lévignen (Oise)
Résumé
In 2012, an excavation of almost 2 hectares was carried out on the plateau of Lévignen (Oise) " Le Haut de Vaudemanche - Tranche 1". The operation revealed remains dating from the 4th century BC to the 10th century AD. In addition to a protohistoric rural settlement and an alto-medieval occupation, a Gallo-Roman site was discovered to the north-west of the area. This site lasted from the 1st to the 3rd century, and even until the beginning of the 4th century. This agricultural settlement is characterised by the presence of two ditched enclosures. In the centre, a large pond occupies the space, with domestic structures surrounding it. This pond has yielded a very large quantity of metal furniture as well as ceramics attesting to its use between the first half of the 3rd century and the beginning of the 4th century. The assemblage of tools from its filling (hammers, adzes, shovels, scrapers, half-moon, wick, force knife) leads us to the theme of the toolbox. Did it contain the tools of a specialised trade or were they used for everyday repairs and repairs?
