Modeling and Optimisation of Optoelectronics devices
Résumé
The aim of this paper is to present modeling and optimisation methods to be applied in optoelectronics. We do not consider the case of laser. At first, we present the main modeling methods that we used to simulate the device optical and electrical behaviour. Secondly we tackle with the interesting problem of the design and optimisation methods. This aspect is a key of interest for many researchers actually. In this context, we describe the Monte-Carlo method and the method of the genetic algorithm. Finally, we present different examples of modeling such as, the optical injection in waveguide PIN photodetectors and waveguide heterojunction bipolar phototransistor, the behaviour of an optical switch, and we propose the complete optimisation of optical switches with a Genetic Agorithm. The solutions given by this last optimisation method are impossible to get otherway, they are analysed and allow to define the actual limits for such a work in the field of optoelectronics.
