Modelling exposure to air pollution in Urban areas
Résumé
Urban air quality remains a major issue for public health and society despite more than 20 years of management policies. The problem persists in many parts of Europe, partly due to a lack of interaction between air quality modelling research, policy, practice and the social sciences. The work presented here offers two significant advances. First, they transcend traditional behavioral approaches that focus on individual choice. Secondly, they merge the social sciences with the quantitative aspects of air quality modelling. This social approach is presented as a complement to existing air quality modeling, contributing to a more holistic and integrated vision of air quality management.
