Cultural industries revisited by the AIGC: a strategy for the disappearance of risk?

Résumé

Cultural industries were defined more than 80 years ago by the school of Frankfurt (Theodor Adorno et Max Horkheimer) on the basis of several concepts, and it is the one of risk that we will retain. The notion of risk, also expressed by the term uncertainty, is the basis of the economic model of cultural industries. The notion of risk is profoundly disrupted by AI algorithms when they propose to target content and tailor it based on usage data. The widespread adoption of such algorithms could annihilate the concept of risk and cultural diversity if cultural contents were solely AI-generated (AIGC).
