Building the compliance of HAL, the French national open archive, with Open Science funders policies
Résumé
HAL is the French open archive produced by the center for direct scientific communications (CCSD). ANR, which is the main funding agency in France and a member of the Coalition S, asks researchers to submit at the time of publication at the latest, the full text of the scientific publications (version Author Accepted Manuscript or Version of Record) in the national open archive HAL, and mention the ANR research project reference (e.g. ANR-22-CE64-0001). With this in mind, ANR and CCSD have been conducted a project in 2021 to improve the current technical situation. The common work allowed an automatic update of the list of the ANR projects and an accurate description of the projects features. It has also led to the opening of an ANR portal to promote projects and their related publications. ANR works now to use HAL APIs to feed another information systems too. This collaboration should serve as a model for other funders, and led to a new project of funders and projects registries integration in HAL.
