Latest Developments of OhmPi: a New Software Architecture for Modular, Flexible and Evolutive ERT Acquisition Systems

Résumé

The OhmPi project is dedicated to the conception and design of a low-cost, open-source, open-hardware resistivity meter able to offer increased flexibility, especially for research experiments in the lab or in small-scale field experiments. Here we present an in-depth code refactoring based on a revised architecture that enables to operate systems based on different versions of the hardware components without changing the interfaces. This architecture has been designed with flexibility and creativity in mind, as it tends to separate the specifics of the hardware from the system’s operating logic. This approach therefore simplifies the development of different versions of hardware components resulting either from progressive improvements or from alternative designs dedicated to the specific needs of experiments.
