Île-de-France: A Natural but Contested Hinterland for Haropa Port
Résumé
The Seine axis is the logistics corridor organized around the Seine linking its maritime entrance, symbolized by the port of Le Havre, to the Paris metropolis. This space for the circulation of goods evokes a potential for logistical and economic development for the French territory. The land service of the Ile-de-France region, the world's fourth largest region in terms of GDP, faces strong competition from the other ports in the North European row. In fact, a significant part of the flows at the origin from or in destination to Ile-de-France transits through foreign ports and in particular through that of Antwerp. During this chapter, we propose to analyze the logistics organization of the Seine axis and to highlight the reasons for this competition in the hinterland organization but also those related to the containerized maritime service.
