This article investigates how the adoption of management tools from the private sector influences the governance of public organizations, particularly focusing on local authorities. By integrating key concepts like management control, new public management, and good governance, the objective is to assess the extent to which territorial management control contributes to enhancing the governance of local authorities. An interdisciplinary approach is preferred to comprehend these intricate dynamics. Situated within the domain of Management Sciences, this study emphasizes the notion of good governance endorsed by international initiatives. The literature review delves into ongoing developments, prompting a critical examination of the enduring specificities within public organizations as compared to their private counterparts.
