Come Lorenzo d’Amalfi († 1049) portò con sé la comunità (e il testo)

Résumé

Lawrence of Amalfi, monk and teacher in the abbey of Montecassino under Abbot Theobald (1022-1035), had a quite eventful life. Archbishop of Amalfi in 1029, then exiled, after taking refuge in Florence he moved to Rome, where he died in 1049. During these journeys he never stopped writing: from hagiographical texts in prose and poetry to homilies and liberal arts texts, his works are a reflection of the community in which he lived, whether by will or commission. Indeed, Lorenzo was able to take with him on his travels the experience, also textual, of the communities to which he belonged, starting with the predominant one of Montecassino. This contribution sets out to analyse how and why he did so.
