Social Media Fake News and Its Implications on Elections in Nigeria

Résumé

This paper examined social media fake news and its implications for elections in Nigeria. This paper explores the concepts of social media, fake news, and elections in Nigeria. There is no denying the fact that social media has come to stay, and it will continue to be a great instrument to be used in elections. However, based on this discourse, it is therefore concluded that social media have become a fertile ground for the spread of fake news, and such fake news has been confirmed to have negative implications generally for elections in Nigeria.
