Ekallatum, Samsi-Addu’s capital city, localised
Résumé
The localisation of the ancient capital city Ekallatum was long debated and the proposal of an identification with Tell Haikal east of the Tigris was accepted by many scholars. The article argues against this proposal and proposes a new identification with Tell Huwaish 15 km north of Ashur (Qal'at Sharqat). The former hypothesis that Tell Huwaish could be identified with Ubase is rejected for good reasons – Ubase has to be looked for in the vicinity of Qayyara.
