Industrial Constraints of Production Planning: A Case Study in the Automotive Industry
Résumé
This paper presents a comparative study of production planningin the automotive industry, contrasting fixed industrial capacityconstraints with real-time data utilization. It employs real data from aRenault Group manufacturing facility to demonstrate the benefits of improvedcomponent availability visibility. We introduce the comparativestudy on a use case. This work emphasises how real-time data can improvethe supply chain’s performance and the production plan’s quality.By incorporating real-time data, the study successfully reduces the averagelead time for order manufacturing and minimizes average latenessby 0.5 production days. The study contributes insights into the impactof constraint flexibility, particularly regarding component availability, onreal-world production planning outcomes.
