FAIR-IMPACT Expanding FAIR solutions across EOSC

Résumé

EOSC is the tangible outcome of a number of key European and global policy milestones and position statements regarding Open Science . EOSC’s ambition is to provide European researchers, innovators, companies and citizens with a federated and open multi-disciplinary environment where they can publish, find and reuse data, tools and services for research, innovation and educational purposes. EOSC is an integral part of, and supports the European Commission’s strategy for realising the European Research Area, in particular the policy priorities of Open Innovation, Open Science and Open to the World and the goal of findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR) data . EOSC’s realisation is dependent upon national infrastructure such as NFDI. With the ambitious goal to realise an EOSC of FAIR data and services, the FAIR-IMPACT project supports the implementation of FAIR principles across scientific communities and research outputs at European, national and institutional level through a matrix of coordination, engagement and support activities. Our poster will showcase the practices, policies, tools and technical specifications we identified to guide researchers, repository managers, research performing organisations, policy makers and citizen scientists towards FAIR data management. The focus is on persistent identifiers (PIDs), metadata, ontologies, metrics, repository certification and interoperability, starting with real-life use cases on social sciences and humanities, the photon and neutron sciences, life sciences and agri-food and environmental sciences. To better support the adoption and implementation of existing and emerging tools, methods and resources, FAIR-IMPACT’s FAIR Implementation Framework will be illustrated. The framework builds on the approach employed by the ACME-FAIR which puts equal emphasis on building capabilities for enabling FAIR and on active engagement to ensure uptake of FAIR-enabling practices to help different stakeholders assess their drivers for becoming (more) FAIR-enabling and their current practices so that they can develop realistic action plans to implement FAIR.
