Résumé

The call for papers for the SWG 14 at EGOS 2022 underlines 'extreme contexts' are settings where people face persistent existential threat that may exceed their abilities to manage (Hannah et al., 2009). “Extreme contexts” are emblematic cases in which sensemaking is crucial for understanding practices and for contributing to performance (Weick, 1988; Weick, 1993; Weick, 1995; Weick et al., 2005). Drawing on sensemaking, the aim of this paper is to show the relevance of a concept, "sensitivity to", developed in an enactive and phenomenological perspective in which affects are essential. This approach enables to understand the actual practices of polar explorers and to build some prospective propositions to organize polar expeditions. It provides also a boarder theoretical background in order to understand and transform practices in extreme contexts.
