Le Wolof et ses variétés
Résumé
This article highlights the importance and fragility of certain language varieties, including those that are not considered endangered in the short term. It emphasizes that analyzing these lesser-known languages can contribute to a better understanding of the language itself and the related languages. The focus is on the case of Wolof, a well-studied language that has received limited attention regarding its varieties. This article provides an overview and lists all the known varieties of Wolof mentioned in the literature. It also highlights the structural differences between these varieties and the standard Wolof, which is often the primary focus of research. The examples provided focus on morphological and syntactic aspects, such as noun classes, expression of possession, and conjugation.
