CW Laser Emission up to 5 THz Using Optically Pumped Water Molecules

Résumé

In this work we discuss the use of a new molecule (deuterated water, D 2 O) to produce THz radiation using a midinfrared quantum cascade laser (MIR-QCL) pumped molecular laser. The molecular gain factor was used to determine the most favorable laser lines and several laser lines were measured up to 5 THz with an output power ranging from tens to hundreds of microwatts.
