MASTA: A New Framework for Sediment Transport Analysis
Résumé
Analysis of sediment transport can be done either 1) by a direct approach based on analysis
of the samples and the environment, or 2) by an indirect approach mainly through numerical
hydro-sedimentary models. Validation of the latter approach is still challenging, and it is with
this objective in mind that MSTA was developed. MSTA is an innovative approach integrating
environmental variables from the field and laboratory measurements. MSTA was developed to
consider the complexity of the datasets related to the site studied, and the analytical methods
and protocols used for analysis. To this end, it allows for normalisation of the data and takes
into account a standard deviation specific to each studied variable as well as the integration of a
possible anisotropy in the spatial distribution of information. MSTA is integrated as a plug-in in
GIS software. It has a user-friendly interface that greatly simplifies the analysis of data sets and
the spatial interpretation of results.
