Caution is advised with prevalence comparisons: the case of psychological distress with students and COVID in France, a network approach

Résumé

Measurement invariance of psychological distress does not hold during the begining of the COVID crisis (2020) and one year later (2021) questioning the validity of prevalence comparisons. We used network analysis (GGM) and found that modeled systems differed (global structure and edges). Simulations (NIRA with Ising model) revealed that while sadness was the most central node, nervousness, and discouragement were better target choices for intervention and prevention.
