Optically Transparent and Reconfigurable printed Vivaldi Antenna

Résumé

An optically transparent, ultra-wideband (UWB) and reconfigurable printed Vivaldi antenna has been designed, fabricated and characterized at millimeter wave frequencies. It covers the entire 20-30 GHz frequency band through the implementation of three PIN diodes. Each diode directs the current flow to control the beam direction of the antenna. Numerical simulations and measurements agree at the millimeter wave band. This original concept ensures a size reduction, ease of integration associated with a 300 degrees radiation pattern agility to operate for 5G communications. Such antenna can also be suitable for RF applications requiring dynamic switching of radiation patterns and cognitive radio.
